The Hotel and Restaurant museum
Located in the vibrant and historical Cable Factory, The Hotel and Restaurant museum offers a unique chance to dive into Finnish food and drink culture! Exhibitions in the museum invite you to discuss taste matters, explore the history of food and drink culture, and reflect how changes in society have affected restaurants and their customers.
Throughout times queer people have been present in restaurants, meeting each other and celebrating diversity. Even though the society has not always welcomed queer people in public places with open arms, the LGBTQ+ community has an important role in the development of restaurant culture. The Hotel and Restaurant museum celebrates this and works on saving the queer perspective of Finnish restaurant history as well. We want to welcome everyone to take a look at the versatile world of food and drink culture!
