The amethysts of Lampivaara were formed over two billion years ago within an ancient mountain range. During your visit, you will learn about the fascinating history of amethyst, the story of the mine and have the opportunity to dig your very own amethyst using traditional hand tools, without blasting or heavy industrial methods.
